About the Department


Civil Engineering is rightly considered the most versatile amongst all engineering branches. It is the branch with a rich miscellany of many streams beginning from Geotechnical Sciences to Structural Engineering, from Environmental Sciences to Hydraulics, and from Construction to Hydrology. Civil Engineering can be considered as the largest core engineering branch in terms of its scope and application. The CE department's main endeavour is to give exposure to budding civil engineers with various innovations in the field of construction engineering. Subjects taught in CE programme includes Geotechnical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System, Design of Structures, Environmental Engineering, Solid Mechanics, and Transportation Engineering. The department uses modern softwares like Autocad, Stadpro, MS Project, and Primavera. The students of the department are working on various welfare oriented projects on water supply, sewage treatment plant, culvert design, and bridge studies. The CE department has also started M.Tech. programmes in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering from session 2013-14 which are affiliated to AKTU.

Er. Neelesh Kr. Singh Is Working As Assistant Professor & Head In the Department Of Civil Engineering. He has an experience of about 4 Years in teaching and industry. He has done his B.Tech. (Civil Engineering) and his M.Tech. (Seismic Design And Earthquake Engineering) . He is a Gold Medalist in M.Tech and Merit Holder in B.Tech. He has received the best faculty award by the management of SRMGPC. His area of interests are, Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering, Modern Concrete Technology, Liquefaction Potential Assessment and Earthquake Resistant Design.

Er. A.K. Rai

Er. A.K. Rai has received his B.E. Degree in Civil Engineering from Madan Mohan Malviya Engineering College, Gorakhpur, in 1982. He has successfully completed his M. Tech. in Geo Technical Engineering from KNIT, Sultanpur in 2014. He also holds a P.G. Diploma in Stress & Vibration Analysis of Machinery and Structures from Maulana Azad College of Technology, Bhopal and M.B.A in Operation Management from UP Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Allahabad. He has 25 years of experience, working as an Assistant and Sr. Engineer at different units of UP State Sugar Corporation Ltd., Lucknow. He is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the CE department. He is extensively associated with various B.Tech and M. Tech projects as a guide. He has published many research/review papers in various international journals.

Er. Pankaj Agarwal

Er. Pankaj Agarwal is an Assistant Professor at SRMGPC, Lucknow. He has been working in the institution since its inception in 2001. He has completed his B.Tech. in Civil Engineering. He is a gold medallist from IIT, Kanpur. Presently, he is pursuing M.Tech. He has participated in various national and international conferences. He also serves as the Executive Director of the institute.

Er. Nitesh Gupta

Er. Nitesh Gupta is Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, SRMGPC Lucknow. He has completed his B.Tech & M.Tech. He has 03 years of Industrial & 10 years of teaching experience. He has published paper in radiant energy. His Area of Interest in Production Engineering.

Er. Abhishek Kr. Yadav

Er. Abhishek Kr. Yadav is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering department of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges. He has completed his B. Tech in Civil Engineering from Golgotia’s College of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida and M.Tech in Environmental Engineering, from MMMUT, Gorakhpur.

Er. Vipin Kr.Kannaujiya

He is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Civil Engineering, at SRMGPC. He has received his B.Tech degree in Civil Engineering from BBDNIIT, Lucknow in 2012 and completed M.Tech in Structural Engineering from MMMUT, Gorakhpur in 2014. He has published eight papers in journals like IJSRD, GJSER, IJERASET, and JETIR .

Er. Pooja Agarwal

Er. Pooja Agarwal is an Assistant Professor at SRMGPC, Lucknow. She has completed her B.Tech in Civil Engineering and is a gold medallist from IIT, Kanpur. She is also pursuing M.Tech. She has published many research/ review papers in various international journals. She also serves the institute as the Additional Executive Director.

Er. Dinesh is Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, SRMGPC Lucknow, He has 13 years of teaching experience. he has completed his B.Tech & M.Tech. His Area of Interest in Industrial Engineering.


Er. Mukesh Saw

Er. Mukesh Saw has been working as Assistant Professor in the department of Civil Engineering, SRMGPC, since 2012. He has completed his graduation, B.Sc (Engg) from Birsa Institute of Technology, Sindri, Dhanbad, in 2009 and his post-graduation (M.Tech) in Water Resource Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, in 2011. Three of his papers are published in journals like IJSART, IRJET etc. He has qualified the Gate Examination in 2009, 2014, 2018 and 2019. His areas of interest are Hydrology and Hydraulics.

Ms. Yashi Dwivedi

She is working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, SRMGPC, Lucknow. Previously, she was associated as an Assistant Professor with GITM, Lucknow. She has completed her M.Tech in Structural Engineering( Steel Structures ) from Integral University, Lucknow and B.Tech in Civil Engineering from GRGC College, Lucknow. She has a publication in IJSART journal on "Block Shear Capacity of Bolted Connections In Rolled Steel Sections".

Mrs. Deepti Gupta

Mrs. Deepti Gupta is an Assistant Professor at SRMGPC, Lucknow. She has completed her M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering from KNIT, Sultanpur and B.Tech in Civil Engineering from AKTU, Lucknow. She has an experience of about 9 Years in teaching .She has a publication in International Journal of Engineering Research & Technology (IJERT), on “Studies on Improvement of Shear Strength of Sandy Soil using Egg Shell Powder and Quarry Dust ”. Her areas of interest are Soil Mechanics, Ground Improvement & Soil Stabilization, and Problematic soil.

Mrs. Pragya Singh

She is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges, since 2011. She has completed her B. Tech in Civil Engineering from Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University and M. Tech in Geo Technical Engineering from KNIT, Sultanpur, in 2016. She is currently pursuing Ph. D (Environmental Engineering) from Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University , Lucknow.

Er. Mayank Kumar

Er. Mayank Kumar is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He has around 10 years of teaching experience. He possesses Masters Degree in Alternate Hydro Energy Systems from Renewable Energy Department, IIT Roorkee. His areas of interest are Renewable Energy, Mechanics of Solids.

Er. Bhaskar Singh

Er. Bhaskar Singh is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering. He has completed B.Tech Civil Engineering in 2015 and M.Tech Structural Engineering in 2017 from SRM UNIVERSITY, CHENNAI. He has many publications in reputed Journals to his credit.

Ms. Khushaboo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at SRMGPC. She has completed her graduation ( B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from Saroj Institute of Technology and Management, Lucknow in 2013 and Post-Graduation(M.Tech) in Structural Engineering from Integral University, in 2016. She has published papers in IJSART and IRJET on the topic,"Study on the Elastic Property of RCC Beam under Static Load". She has also worked at Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, in 2016, as an Assistant Professor as guest faculy. Her area of interest is Structural Analysis.

Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra

Dr. Shailesh Kumar Mishra is working as an Assistant Professor in the department of Environmental Engineering at SRMGPC. He is Ph.D in “Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation Priority of the Fishes of River Ghaghara (U.P.).” He Qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) in the year 2004 . He has many publications in various journals to his credit.

CIVIL ENGINEERING LABS

Geo-Tech Lab


After a successful completion of the Geotechnical lab course, the students will be able to :

i. Draw the particle size distribution curve and to find the particle size

ii. To find the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of soil sample.

iii. To find the shear strength and safe bearing capacity of the soil.

iv. To find the consistency limits (liquid limit, plastic limit, shrinkage limit and plasticity index) of the soil.

Transportation Lab


After a successful completion of the Transportation lab course, the students will be able to :

i. Identify engineering properties of aggregate i.e. crushing strength impact strength and abrasion strength.

ii. Indentify the grade & properties of bitumen.

iii. Find out peak hour traffic & peak time for a given location on the road.

iv. Calculate design speed, maximum speed & minimum speed limits of a location through spot speed.

Curing Tank

Building Material and Construction Lab


After successful completion of building material and construction lab students will be able to:

i. Identify various building materials and to understand their basic properties.

ii. Understand the use of non-conventional civil engineering materials.

iii. Study suitable type of flooring and roofing in the construction process.

iv. Characterize the concept of plastering, pointing and various other building services.

v. Exemplify the various fire protection, sound and thermal insulation techniques, maintenance and repair of buildings.

Environmental Engineering Lab


After successful completion of Environmental Engineering Lab students will be able to:

i. Identify turbidity, conductivity, and values of pH, alkalinity, acidity and hardness.

ii. Measure SPM and PM10 with high volume sampler, sound level with sound level meter.

iii. Identify total suspended and dissolved solids, BOD, COD and kjeldahl nitrogen.

iv. Identify fluoride, chlorides, residual chlorine and MPN (most probable number) of coli forms.

Hydraulic and Hydraulic machines Lab


This course offers basic knowledge on, fluid dynamics and hydraulic machines. The objective of this course is to enable the student to understand laws of fluid mechanics and evaluate types of flow, velocity and losses in jump for various fluid flows and performance parameters for hydraulic machinery.


Fluid Friction Pipes Flow

The objective of this Lab is to investigate head loss due to friction in a pipe, impact of jet and to determine the associated friction factor under a range of flow rates and flow regimes, i.e. laminar, transitional, and turbulent.

i. The student will be able to apply general governing equations for various fluid flows and apply

ii. Verify the of Bernoulli’s Theorem

iii. To study the transition from laminar to turbulent flow and to determine the lower critical Reynolds number.

iv. To study the velocity distribution in a pipe and also to compute the discharge by integrating the velocity profile.

v. To determine Meta-centric height of a given ship model

SURVEYING & GEOMATICS


After successful completion of Surveying & Geomatics Lab student will be able to :--

i. Describe the function of surveying and work with survey instruments, take observations, and Prepare plan, profile, and cross-section and perform calculations.

ii. Calculate, design and layout horizontal and vertical curves.

iii. Operate a total station and GPS to measure distance, angles, and to calculate differences in Elevation. Reduce data for application in a geographic information system.

iv. Relate and apply principles of photogrammetry for surveying.

v. Apply principles of Remote Sensing and Digital Image Processing for Civil Engineering Problems.

CAD LAB


After successful completion of CAD Lab student will be able to :

i. Work on latest version of geotechnical engineering software (Open source/commercial software)

ii. Work on latest version of surveying software (Open source/commercial software)
